MEAVY?Amateur Dramatics (MAD) will be performing its penultimate show tonight (Thursday) at Meavy Parish Hall telling the illustrious tale of hapless highwaymen.

The year is 1780. The Devil's apprentice in Devon — a demon called Damien — is on a day trip to Yelverton and with mischief on his mind, Damien aims to corrupt the nearest innocent souls and set them on the 'highway' to hell.

Enter Meavy farmer Dick Turnip, who has popped up to Yelverton Stores for a pasty, accompanied by his best friend Russell Sprout and Russell's handsome pet rabbit Mr Dashwoode. Spotting an opportunity for some sneaky shenanigans, Damien directs his minion in Meavy — an impish shapeshifter named Empusa — to engender a number of highway hijinks for these unlikely heroes. And so the scene is set. But what will happen next?

The shows are tonight (Thursday) and Friday at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from The Royal Oak Inn, Meavy.
