A VINTAGE tea party will be held in Tavistock Town Hall, Tavistock, this month, in support of a community group for people with learning difficulties.
The event, on Sunday, October 28, will take place between 2pm and 5 pm. Organisers Tavy Tories say they are delighted to support Robert Owen Communities (ROC) Welcome Tavistock, which provides social opportunities to adults with learning disabilities.
ROC runs two Welcome Clubs in Tavistock and in Truro. They provide a social experience for people with learning disabilities, with around 120 people attending on a weekly basis to undertake different activities such as social walks, games and barbecues.
ROC is in the process of transforming the clubs into member-led groups which will develop more community links and widen their range of social opportunities.
Sue Bailey, the organiser of the event, said: 'I have warm memories of being taken out to tea as a girl and have long sought an opportunity to recapture the essence of those times.
'Everyone is welcome, why not come along, revel in nostalgia and enjoy the entertainment? I look forward to welcoming you'.
Tickets are £7 each and if you buy seven you get one extra free. Contact Sue Bailey on 01822 618346 or email [email protected]">[email protected]
