A UNIQUE opportunity to hear the organs of North Tawton?s churches will be presented tomorrow night (Friday). Roger Cleverdon, the Rev Philip Wagstaff and Paul Goodman will all be playing as part of the safari supper/organ recital fundraiser for Connect. You can enjoy good food accompanied by the dulcet tones of each of North Tawton?s church organs, each of which has its own individual sound and interesting history. The churches are all within easy walking distance of each other. l The evening starts at 7pm at St Peter?s Church, with a short recital performed by Roger Cleverdon, followed by a delicious starter. l A leisurely downhill stroll takes you to Lakeway Chapel, where entertainment will be courtesy of the Rev Philip Wagstaff and you will be treated to a tasty main course. l A brief saunter along the road brings us to our final venue. The evening concludes with music from North Street Chapel?s own Paul Goodman. Tickets can be purchased on the door ? Adults £7 and children/students £3, but organisers ask, to help with the catering, that you call 01837 82370 to let them know if you are coming. All proceeds go towards the work of Connect. Connect is a cross-denominational Christian youth work organisation which places trainee youth workers in each of the three community colleges in mid-Devon: Okehampton, Crediton and Chulmleigh. Connect began in 1996 as a way for local churches to reach out to the community by providing Christian youth workers in school. There is one Connect worker in Okehampton this year, based in Okehampton College. Connect can provide activities such as lunchtime clubs as well as taking RE lessons and assemblies. The group also gets involved in many secular and church-based youth clubs.
