NO need for a time machine to experience bygone eras and remember what life was like before smartphones and iPads — hop in the car instead to the Step Back in Time Festival at Broadwoodkelly on July 23 and 24.

The festival, now running for its sixth year, is organised as part of the CBA’s National Festival of Archaeology, which this year runs during the last two weeks of July.

The event covers a wide range of significant periods in history, with each period represented by either living history exhibits, or static exhibits such as tools, vehicles and domestic equipment.

Visitors to the festival can learn about life as a Briton in the Iron Age, how the Vikings raided and settled our region and through to medieval times as a knight and on to the last century.

For vehicle enthusiasts there will be Land Rover exhibits as well as historic cars, motorcycles, tractors and lawnmower and horticultural machinery.
