Carlsberg South Western League Tavistock 1 Liskeard 4 THE Lambs? recent visit to Lux Park saw them come through by the same score line but in the Lambs? favour. Last time the Lambs were at full strength with the Blues missing key personnel. This time the tables were turned. It was a very different side for the Lambs with new signings Nathan Evans and Daley Simpson from Plymouth University and James Donnellon from Wadebridge into the squad. The writing was on the wall after just 10 minutes as the Blues swept into a two goal lead. Sam Mathews put Dan Nancarrow in to slot home and it was Nancarow again to have room to put the ball across keeper Andy Meeds for their second. Evans did well to get a cross in after 15 minutes but no one could get on the end of it with keeper Simon Zinn denying stand-in front man John Hajiyianni on the half hour. The defining moment of the game came on the stroke of half time.Aaron Cusack?s slip allowed Lee Coxon to race towards goal and as he went past the keeper he seemed to have lost possession as Zinn came out to close him down. However the referee?s assistant saw it in a different slant and after consultation a penalty was awarded and Zinn received the red card. Into goal went defender Brinton Nute and despite going the wrong way from the spot kick Jon Morris?s effort only grazed the outside of the post. It summed up Tavistock?s first half performance. Ten against 11 one would have thought the Lambs would take advantage but it was not to be. Despite bringing on all three subs they found themselves further behind on 67 minutes with Harvey crossing for sub Ross Saint heading home. The Lambs quickly replied from a corner by Chris Menhenick for Nigel Pugh to head back across goal for Steve Daly to knock home from close range but it was purely academic. Liskeard had the final say after big appeals for a penalty were turned down with the kick being outside the area but they still capitalised as Saints headed home at the far post from Jimmy Kiely?s kick. The loss of too many key players for the Lambs, the return of Liskeard to almost full strength proved to be the factors. Forthcoming fixtures: It is away from league action this Saturday as the Lambs make the relatively short journey to Toolstation Western League Premier side Willand Rovers in the (E.on) sponsored F A Cup 1st qualifying round.
