Truro C 3 Tavistock B 3 THIS was always going to be a hard game for the men?s hockey B team, but after last week?s victory they were on a positive note. The game started well for Tavistock, dominating for the first 20 minutes. Forwards Holland, Killingbeck and Mackintosh caught the home side unawares and it was only the post that prevented Tavistock from taking the lead. Truro started to get back into the match, but Tavistock made the breakthrough they needed with a goal by Tosdevin from a well rehearsed short corner routine. Truro pulled a goal back, so both teams had all to play for in the second half. With the second half under way, the Truro attackers battled to pass Tavistock?s defence, comprising Young, Curno and Glanville, but their persistence paid off with two more goals. Matthews in goal had a good game but was unable to stop Truro scoring. Tactical changes were made with substitutes Cowan Jnr and Mason. Truro thought they had the three points to take back to Cornwall, but did not expect Tavistock to get back into the game. Tavistock took control and Cooley scored a fine goal from just inside the ?D? to pull one back. With time running out Tavistock had a short corner awarded to them ? this was to be one of the last chances to level the game. With a similar routine that brought about the first goal, Mackintosh hit the ball to Young who passed to Killingbeck who struck it hard into the back of the goal to level game. This was a fair result for both teams and Tavistock will be looking for their next win this Saturday away to Plymouth University.
