TAVISTOCK Swimming Club was represented at the recent Devon County Championships and Age Groups Competition 2006 held at Tiverton and Central Park, Plymouth by seven swimmers, who took part in medley and all four stroke events over the seven days of competition. The swimmers participated in a total of 17 events, gaining 10 personal best times, representing the club in eight finals and bringing home three bronze medals. Kirsty Best took part in four events, swimming to personal best times in them all and gaining 6th place in the 100m breaststroke 14 years final. Laura Aspen was swimming in the 13 years age group and swam in two races, with a personal best and 16th place in the 100m butterfly. Meanwhile, Laura Radgick kept busy with a total of six events over five days. She gained personal best times in 50m backstroke and 100m individual medley and came 6th in the 100m freestyle 15 years final. Michael Best swam in three events in the 16 and over age group, gaining personal bests in 50m backstroke and both 50m and 100m breaststroke. In his five events, Christopher Ralph swam to two personal best times in the 100m freestyle and 100m breaststroke, where he came 6th in the 16 and over final. Ross Williams gained a 6th place in the 14 years 100m butterfly final and a 3rd place in the 50m butterfly final, earning him a bronze medal. Butterfly was also a good stroke for James Lake who gained a personal best time for 100m butterfly and third places in both the 16 and over and Open finals for that event, earning him two bronze medals. He also swam to fifth place in the Open 50m butterfly final and gained a personal best time in the 100m freestyle.
