KELLY College swimmer David Hill has been named OCS Disabled Young Sportsperson of the Year following his remarkable performance at this year?s paralympic games.
The 15-year-old was the youngest member of the British Paralympic Squad in Athens this summer, reaching the finals of the 100m backstroke despite coming up against competitors many years his senior.
He said: ?I?m delighted to be named as the Disabled OCS Young Sportsperson of the Year.
?I know other people who were nominated and to find out that I was chosen from such a great group is fantastic.?
David was chosen for the award, which is recognised as one of the most prestigious in the country, from more than 400 entries nationally.
OCS chief executive Chris Cracknell said: ?David has shown great levels of maturity and professionalism beyond his years and I wish him the best of luck in his field for the future.?
David will receive a cheque for £2,500 from Sports Minister Richard Caborn in London on December 6 at a ceremony which will also see the announcement of the overall winner of OCS Young Sportsperson of the Year.
The winner of the overall prize will collect an additional £8,000 sponsorship as well as a £2,500 cheque for their school, college or club.
