A SWIMATHON is soon to take place at Meadowlands Swimming Pool in aid of charity WheelPower. Anyone from regular Meadowlands swimmers to local residents can take part in the event as part of the charity's 'Wheel Appeal', from March 31 to April 13 The national organisation is aiming to raise £6- million to provide new sports wheelchairs, training and coaching that will enable disabled children and young adults to participate in sport and enjoy competitive and recreational sport. Christine Gallie, the swimschool co-ordinator at Meadowlands, who is organising the swimathon, said: 'Leisure Connection is working with WheelPower as it is a very good cause to raise money for.
