SINCE winning their first two friendlies in a convincing fashion Zeal have struggled to field a full squad since and so it was on Saturday as a bare 11 took on SWEB in the Devon senior cup.

Zeal played well against a competent SWEB side and after holding the vistors to a goaless draw at half time took the lead after 15 minutes of the second half.

The excellent Harley Cann was put through on the right, Harley cut in side and hit a great shot into the far corner of the net from just inside the penalty area. SWEB equalised ten minutes later when a cross from the right was not cleared leaving an easy tap in and ensured their progress to the next round with two scrappy goals in the final 20 minutes.

With no subs to call on Zeal tired late in the game but all 11 players never stopped trying and Dan Wakeham, Redd Cann, Harley Cann and Robbie Sendacock were probably the four best players on the pitch.
