THE Tamar Valley, North Devon and Plymouth office of Macmillan Cancer Support has welcomed a new fundraiser to its team.

Suzie Warren, originally from a banking background, has joined the Macmillan Cancer Support office hoping to achieve her goal of raising more than £400,000 for the charity.

She said: 'Over 6,000 people in Devon and 3,000 people in Cornwall are diagnosed with cancer each year. Macmillan aims to improve the lives of people locally, supporting the Mustard Tree at Derriford and the Information Centre at North Devon Hospital. I cannot think of a better cause to work for.'

In Devon last year, Macmillan gave £100,173 in grants to more than 337 families and funded more than 80 cancer care nurses, doctors, therapists and information specialists.
