RESIDENTS in Okehampton are being given the chance to have an input into the recycling service provided in West Devon. Information gained in Okehampton over the next few weeks will be used to inform and improve the waste collection and recycling service that West Devon Borough Council provides. Teams of surveyors will be noting details such as the percentage of households participating in recycling and the contents of recycling boxes, in selected streets within the area. Waste consultants are conducting a study on behalf of the council in order to gain information about recycling behaviour in West Devon. The work is being funded through Devon County Council. West Devon Borough Council recycling officer Jane Savage wanted to reassure the public about the survey. She said: ?All the surveyors will be carrying photo ID badges and wearing fluorescent tabards. No items put out for recycling will be taken away by the surveyors ? these will be collected as usual by the recycling crews and the results will not relate to individual households.? The surveyors will be operating in the Okehampton area every Wednesday until October 11. For further information, contact West Devon Borough Council on 01822 813600.
