A MIXED group of boarders from Mount House School defied the changeable weather to enjoy a great Sunday out at Polzeath under the guidance of the experts at the 'Surf's Up!' surf school.

Surfing is one of the most popular outings in the programme of activities arranged for pupils boarding at The School over term-time weekends. The activities are designed to develop the children's social, creative and interactive skills, as well as giving them some fun and relaxation at the weekend.

When they got to the beach, they donned wetsuits, and after an initial lesson with the boards on the beach, took to the water. The surf was quite strong, but the water is still quite warm and with a little help from the instructors, the children enjoyed an exhilarating time.

The 'best surfing' award was won by sixth former Jeremy Newman, though the competition was fierce and several were standing on the boards and catching decent waves by the end of the session.
