A GROUP of 36 ladies — and two brave men in drag —took to the trees in the Tamar Valley last weekend, battling the threat of vertigo in the name of charity.
The group was tackling the challenging course at the Treesurfing Centre at Gulworthy, to raise money for The George Appeal.
Named after baby George North, who was born 'sleeping' at 31 weeks of pregnancy in April 2006, the appeal is raising funds for antenatal scanning equipment for Derriford Hospital.
There were several individuals taking part in the event, but also teams from Lewannick School, St Mellion School, staff representing Tesco Launceston and South Petherwin School.
Tesco also held a collection to help support the event as did South Petherwin Post Office and Shop.
When all the sponsorship money has been collected it is anticipated that the amount raised from the event will be in the region of £4,000.
Kathy Davies, secretary and trustee of the George Appeal, said: 'Grateful thanks are extended to all who took part and supported us in any way.
'Thanks also to the staff at the treesurfing centre. If you like a challenge, this is certainly the place to go!'
