WITH a general election expected by June, now is the time for people to ensure they are registered to vote.
To be certain you are registered, call West Devon Borough Council's customer services team on 01822 813600 for advice. Residents also need to be aware that the borough falls within two constituencies at the general election.
Following boundary changes, the new Central Devon seat runs alongside the West Devon and Torridge seat and some residents will notice that their usual parliamentary constituency will have changed.
Areas that used to be in the West Devon and Torridge constituency and have moved into Central Devon are the wards of Chagford, Drewsteignton, Exbourne, Hatherleigh, Lew Valley, North Tawton, Okehampton and South Tawton. The remaining wards will be in the West Devon and Torridge constituency.
The Buckland Monachorum ward – which includes Yelverton, Buckland Monachorum, Crapstone, Clearbrook and Milton Combe – which was previously in the Plymouth South West constituency has now been moved in to the West Devon and Torridge constituency.
West Devon Borough Council is the lead authority for the new Central Devon constituency, and Torridge District Council will be organising the West Devon and Torridge seat.
