THE Domestic Violence and Abuse Service, covering the West Devon, South Hams and Teignbridge areas and formerly known as Women's Aid, has recently added to its range of options by introducing regular monthly appointment-based sessions in Tavistock.
A support worker for the West Devon area will be available for one-to-one support on the first Monday afternoon of each month at West Devon Borough Council's Kilworthy Park offices in Tavistock.
Individual meetings will offer support and information, risk assessment, and safety planning as well as on-going help and support for appointments with other agencies.
The support worker operates closely with a network of agencies, including West Devon Borough Council, and the one-to-one meetings can also lead to a range of other options, such as support groups, counselling services and pattern changing courses.
Domestic violence and abuse is any incident of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse — psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional — between adults, who are, or have been, intimate partners or family members.
To make an appointment to see the support worker in West Devon phone the council's general number, 01822 813600 and speak to a customer services advisor.
The Domestic Violence and Abuse Service is free, and can be accessed by ringing the West Devon helpline number 01837 55228 weekdays.
