A COMMUNITY interest company based near Moretonhampstead that helps young people and people at risk of exclusion is launching a crowdfunding campaign to show off their work over a year-long period.

Running Deer CIC, based in Butterdon Wood near Moretonhampstead, is a community organisation supporting young people facing social exclusion, survivors of domestic abuse, long-term unemployed, those living in rural isolation and armed forces veterans, many of whom suffer from post traumatic stress disorder.

The organisation offers access to training, volunteering, learning life skills, and work experience in rural skills, bushcraft and survival.

Their Kickstarter Project, ‘A Year in the Life of Running Deer’ is a year-long photography project that will document the progress of students, veterans and volunteers, many of whom are facing mental health issues. The project will capture the cycle of change in Butterdon Wood, experiencing the work that the CIC does, the animals it sees and looks after and the transformation that the woodland is going through, with the aim of creating an everlasting legacy for future generations.

Once completed an online book will be compiled that can be downloaded for free.

For the project to go ahead, Running Deer CIC needs to raise £2,495 by December 22.
