A PROJECT to publicise the history of the world war two airfield site on Roborough Down has won support from West Devon Borough Council. Councillors have agreed to award the RAF Harrowbeer Interest Group a full grant of £3,147 towards a series of interpretation boards which will give visitors an insight as to how important the site was during the war. The group holds educational talks and organised walks around the old airfield helping people, including schoolchildren, understand just how widely used the site was during those years. Cllr Margaret Garton, who represents the area, said: 'The council is delighted that all visitors to Roborough Common will now be aware of its magnificent history.' l If you are a member of a community project or sporting organisation in West Devon and would like more information about grants from West Devon Borough Council, contact West Devon project officer Rob Sekula on 01822 813701.
