I WOULD like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in producing our recent civic dinner and the charity race night for Hospiscare. The town clerk and the other town council staff were successful in organising a very special civic dinner. I am particularly thankful to the Rev Michael Thayer, an excellent after-dinner speaker, and Richard and Bernie Appleton from Millennium Music for organising the entertainment. Bryony Hope-Smith, Lucy Sizmur, Becky and Jamie Quance-Woodland, Kerry Taylor and Amy Chapman were absolutely excellent and are just a small example of the wealth of young talent in our area. My thanks to the landlord and staff of the King?s Arms, who helped provide the liquid refreshments at both the civic dinner and the race night. Thanks also to all those that attended the charity race night. I hope everyone had an enjoyable evening, because John Moppett and Peter and Angela Hammond really do provide a very original and entertaining event for various charities. We were blessed to have Kay, John and Katy Bickley and Lizzy Hill on hand to provide the food, and I wish to give Kay and John a very special thank you for not only preparing and cooking the food, but also for providing it free for Hospiscare. My thanks also go to Sweet Success for their contribution to the supper. With everyone?s help, we were able to raise close to £500. Again, thank you to everyone involved for all their assistance.
