Whitchurch Wayfarers v Cockington

WHITCHURCH extended their lead at the top of Devon E league to seven points.

Batting first, they lost a couple of wickets early on. but a rare patient innings from Mansfield steadied the ship. When the in-form Martin Credicott announced himself with a few lusty blows, the run rate soon increased.

Credicott reached 45, Dean Elliott 30no, John Jackson 28 and Nigel Barriball 33. The Wayfarers reached 214 all out.

After tea Steve Lavis bowled yet another superb spell of pace, with not a lot of luck to go with it.

Dean Elliott recorded figures of 2-39.

John Jackson and Chris Clapham also chipped in with useful spells and Cockington played out for the draw and finished on 200-7.

Had catches been held the result would have been different.

This Saturday away to Kenn.
