Operation Sunshine is all set to welcome the spring and summer with a raft of events

The most recent one was held in Yelverton, when more than 60 people enjoyed a humorous and interesting talk about the history of the local railway by Bernard Mills. The evening raised more than £250.

This bank holiday weekend, May 5, 6 and 7, will see Operation Sunshine at Knightstone Tea Rooms, near Yelverton, where volunteers will be selling cakes, bric-a-brac items, books and antiques.

On May 12, there will be a plant sale in the car park of Holy Cross Catholic Church Hall in Yelverton from 10.30am to 1.30pm. On May 18, the charity's annual quiz takes place at Yelverton Memorial Hall from 7pm.

Charity secretary Maureen Bridge said: 'This is a great opportunity for giving your brain a workout as well as providing a very enjoyable way to spend an evening with friends. You bring your own food and drink and try to achieve a win for your team.'
