A TEACHER who helped a village school in West Devon to achieve excellence has been remembered in a special way. Tracey Ohlsen taught at Halwill Primary School for three years. She died in the summer of 2004 after a long illness. Pupils, friends and family gathered last week for the official opening of a sundial in her memory. David Jones, headteacher, said Tracey helped the school gain ?excellent? Key Stage 2 SATS results. He said: ?The school had the highest results in Devon, and the 13th in the country. ?She put a lot of effort into the school and was an excellent colleague. She has left a big gap in the school.? Engraved onto the top of the sundial, located at the front of the school entrance, is: ?Inspirational and dedicated, who brought fun, excitement and consistency to the classroom and worked tirelessly for conservation and the countryside.? After the summer holidays the teachers and children of the school moved into brand new, £3-million premises at Halwill Junction, which took a year to complete.
