THE summer fete at Lakeside Residential Home just outside Okehampton not only ensured fun for residents and their close ones but a bumper day of fundraising for the cancer charity FORCE (pictured right).

The event on July 25 raised £702.23 for the charity, which runs a programme of outreach support in West Devon. FORCE (Friends of the Oncology and Radiotherapy Centre Exeter) has been supporting cancer patients for nearly 30 years. The charity has operated from its support centre in the grounds of the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital since 2004.

In June 2014 it expanded its services by introducing an outreach programme at Castle Ham Lodge in Okehampton.

A team of specialists offers support and counselling plus complementary therapies by appointment as well as information and advice every Wednesday between 10am and 4pm.

The team at FORCE expressed thanks to everyone at Lakeside, particularly Ian Longridge.
