WHITCHURCH Wayfarers recently held their annual presentation night at the Ordulph Arms. The evening was a great success with all the club attending.

The colts were the first to receive their awards. The U11s enjoyed a very successful season, winning the Palladium League, finishing as runners-up in the regional cup, as well as the John Stephens cup, for area winners.

The U13s lost in the semi-final of the cup, and enjoyed moderate success in the league. The U15s struggled a little, but enjoyed the season and have many players showing promise in senior cricket.

The most improved colt and winner of the Beaver Cup was Luke Cummings. The best colt and winner of the Pedrick Cup was Jonny Elliott, who also showed excellent promise scoring a second XI DCL half century this season.

The ladies' section won half the games they played and finished fourth in their league. Best batsman was Cath Amore and best bowler was Cath Griffin.

The seniors had conflicting seasons. The first XI were promoted as runners from the E1 division, while the second XI were relegated from C2.

Skipper Martyn Credicott led his team from the front, scoring almost 500 league runs and was ably supported by a good crop of youngsters, notably Shaun Daymond who led the division with his haul of 22 wickets at an average of under ten apiece.

The second XI also featured many youngsters, but struggled to score enough runs to be consistently competitive.

The prestigious award for clubman of the year was presented to Nicky Churchill for her sterling work organising social events and fundraising, as well as settling in to the secretary's role.

Senior winners — First XI: Batsman, Martyn Credicott; bowler, Shaun Daymond; captain's player, Ewan Smith.

Second XI : Batsman, Josh Meadows; bowler, Neil Tamblin; captain's players, Josh Meadows and Ollie Macrae.
