Last Thursday a number of the members went up to the Mendip Hills for a day out. This was the first time the ladies and men have had a joint outing. A coach went from the club at 8.30am arriving about 10.30am, after a coffee and bacon roll the players set out.

The men played from the first tee in their three ball, two to count, Stableford and the ladies started on the ninth tee playing an individual Stableford with teams of two to be decided at the end in a draw.

The weather wasn't too bad, though some clouds did appear now and again to blot out the views!

The course was interesting and scoring was difficult. Though the mens' winner of the Individual Scratch Trophy, Stuart Wilson, didn't find it too difficult making a gross 84.

The individual winner of the handicap prize was Graham Howe with 35 points and the team winners were Stuart, Graham and Mike Hutchinson.

The ladies' individual winner was lady captain Cherry James with 34pts, with Lin Atkinson second.

However the main competition and winning the Shield was Cherry drawn with Lorna McCurrach, they totalled 55 pts. In second place were Lynn Hazelton and Tricia Nilsson with 52 and third were Lin Atkinson and Maureen Howe with 51pts.

It was a great day enjoyed by all who participated.
