A GROUP of sixth-form students at Tavistock College have been awarded the funds to produce a peer support card issued to all pupils in the school.
The SHADES personal, social and health education group were runners-up at the Devon Crimebeat Awards in March, in the High Sheriff's Cup category.
The group have designed and produced a handy card featuring local and national helpline numbers offering advice on health and social issues. The girls involved in the scheme are Otterlie Reddy, Karen Farrow, Katie Russell, Carina Boyce, Lauren Burton and Amy Louden.
Chief Constable Sir John Evans who was recently in Tavistock on the route of his Dream-Away charity challenge attended the presentation, where Brian Tofield of HSBC Bank, who are funding the project handed over the £500 cheque.
