MORE THAN 75 people attended the first-ever sport and dance awards evening held at Callington College recently.
The event celebrated and recognised the achievements of the student athletes who had been part of the school's high level performance programme.
Bradley Agar and Alex Jeffery welcomed parents, guests and fellow athletes before introducing the first guest speaker of the evening, Plymouth Argyle FC community coach, Jason Chapman.
Ben Dunks from Attik Dance Company spoke about the outstanding work that has been done with the students on the dance academy programme.
The dancer of the year award was won by Rhianna Darby, who also collecting the dancers' dancer of the year award.
Mark Lovell, from Plymouth Argyle FC, spoke about the football development programme.
The Plymouth Argyle FC player of the year award was presented to Bradley Agar with Ryan Corey receiving the players' player of the year award.
Jamie Burchell from Plymouth Raiders Basketball Club spoke of the positive impact basketball has had on young people's lives through the college programme.
The Plymouth Raiders basketball club player of the year was awarded to Alex Jeffery with the players' player of the year award going to Jake Lawrence.
Alan Yendell, director of the sport and dance academy presented the sport personality of the year award to talented young player Dave Dagongdong.
Mr Yendell, who organised the event with some of the academy students, said: 'The student athletes are a credit to themselves, their families and our college and I cannot thank them enough for the complete dedication and commitment they have shown to both their academic studies and their personal sport over the past year.'
