GUNNISLAKE Football Club held its annual dinner dance and presentation evening last week. The evening was a great success, with awards going to Stuart Wakenshaw for the leading goalscorer, who also collected the manager?s award and the trophy for the players? player.
The most improved player this season was selected by the manager and committee and was given to Tom Bilbeam.
The player to be recognised for the most attendances was Mark Warwick, who did not miss one game. The clubman trophy went to club treasurer Mark Warwick for all his efforts off the pitch as well as on it.
At the Duchy annual meeting club secretary Michael Kinger was awarded the trophy for the premier linesman of the season.
Last season Gunnislake finished the Duchy Premier League in seventh place, a good achievement after only gaining promotion the previous season. They were also runners-up to Callington?s South Western team in the Bedford Cup.
This Sunday Gunnislake FC will hold its own annual meeting at the Social Club at 8pm ? any interested persons may attend.
The club is looking for a few additional players for the new season, anyone interested is invited to attend training evenings at Gunnislake Park, which start on Thursday July 17 at 7pm, or contact the secretary on 01822 834291.
The club?s thanks again to go Dave Piper of Frame 2000 who this year is setting them up with a new team strip.
