CONDITIONS were great for the annual Goodacre Cup which took place at Roadford Lake recently.
The three day regatta, hosted jointly by South West Lakes Trust (SWLT) and Roadford Lake Sailing Club (RLSC), was a tremendous success with strong winds, hot sunshine, and over 35 boats battled it out over three days of competitive racing.
Full results are to be posted on the RLSC website http://www.roadfordlakesailingclub.org.uk">www.roadfordlakesailingclub.org.uk but the overall winner was Roadford member Norman Halstead.
Phil Timings, Outdoor + Active manager at Roadford said: 'The event exemplifies the work that South West Lakes Trust does with the community to provide recreational access to inland waters across the south west and what can be achieved when working in partnership with Roadford Lake Sailing Club.'
The volunteer race management team did exceptionally well in ensuring the event was both professional and fun with lots of smiling faces on the final day.
This was further added to with great catering throughout the weekend including the evening BBQ and cream teas at the prize giving.
This year's event attracted generous sponsorship from Ambrosia.
There are plenty of opportunities to take part in activities at Roadford Lake, including tuition, hire and a number of events.
Upcoming events include the Peter Bartlett Youth Regatta on September 22 which aims to introduce new sailors to racing and support and encourage those looking to improve their racing.
