Tavistock U12s 21 Devonport Services U12s 14 Tavistock took the game to Devonport from the outset as Josh Birch caught the ball from the kickoff and ran it back. From the ensuing ruck, the forwards won quick ball for Aaron Dobie at scrum half who fed fly-half Dan Dawes down the blind side who beat the cover defence for a score. The home side then spent some time defending their line but good tackling and work in the loose allowed them to stop Devonport?s momentum. Tavistock extended their lead after pressure saw Services infringe in the ruck and Dawes ran a penalty from 10 metres out for the try. Devonport pulled one back after good work at the lineout and a well worked driving maul got them over the line just before half time. The second half was evenly balanced. Services cleared and the ball didn?t make touch and Tavistock fullback Finlay Ross arced around the defence at pace before being forced into touch just before the line. At the resulting line out on the five metre line Services skewed the throw to their own man and Tavistock capitalised on this with Alex Boswell winning ball at the front, Calum Ross taking it on and then popping the ball to Alex Boswell who crashed over. The half ended with Services getting one back as Tavistock couldn?t clear the ball cleanly following a scrum deep in their half. A good pick up and short range drive over saw the Devonport scrum half get a good score. All Tavistock conversions were by Dawes.
