THE Oke Stroke Club is affiliating itself with the Stroke Association, the only UK-wide charity solely concerned with combating strokes.
The club is looking to gain recognition for its work, and the Stroke Association will offer the chance for the group to become more widely recognised as well as offer financial support and information.
The group, which held its first meeting in February, meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at Castle Ham Lodge. Stroke victims can get together and discuss the different problems and difficulties each person faces.
On the second monthly meeting the group aims to have a different speaker to give advice to the group, and help club members overcome their problems.
In the near future the club is hoping to organise outings, lunches and fun get togethers. The club is open to anyone aged 50 and over, and is a small, friendly group always happy to welcome new members.
The club meets at Castle Ham Lodge. For further information call chairman Bob Lock on 07935 476379 or Castle Ham Lodge on 01837 659900.
