AN OVERHEAD power cable came down in stormy weather this week, causing 52 residents to lose power on Tuesday morning in the Down Road area of Tavistock.
The incident occurred around 7.20am and a team from Western Power Distribution were deployed to the scene immediately. Local police also attended and closed the road temporarily. A spokesperson for Western Power Distribution said once it was established that it was safe to carry out repairs, the power supply was returned to the houses affected by around 10am.
l The A386 from Tavistock to Plymouth was closed at Grenofen on Tuesday afternoon after a tree fell on a car. The driver of the car escaped uninjured and one carriageway remained closed for a time while the tree was removed.
