A TAVISTOCK charity which supports older people in the town, was thrilled to receive a grant to buy a mobility scooter recently.

Tavistock Area Support Services (TASS) received the grant to buy a mobility scooter from the Co-operative Community Fund.

Ian Bellamy from Launceston Mobility Centre handed over the scooter to Barbara Worth and Dawn Rich, managers of Somerfield and the Co-op in Tavistock.

Dawn said: 'We are pleased to be able to support TASS in the development of Shopmobility and providing a scooter helps people get out and about in our area.'

TASS general manager Andy Lyle said: 'I am so pleased with this kind donation, showing local business support of this new initiative. If any other business in Tavistock would like to support TASS in the development of Shopmobility, which benefits not only those using the scooters but also local businesses in the town, please get in contact.'
