TESCO staff will be for the high jump this Sunday — from 15,000 feet.

The volunteers from Callington and other stores across the southwest will be skydiving to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society.

Store manager Gary Wills, who is organizing the Tesco Tandem Charity Skydive at Dunkeswell airfield in East Devon, said: 'This is the final event in Tesco's partnership with the Alzheimer's Society. We thought, since it was a Leap Year, why not take a giant leap?

'We are hoping to raise £1000 at our store alone from the jump – and I hope we can rise to the challenge!'

Staff at the Callington store have been involved in various fundraising activities for the charity, including a rock'n'roll week, a one-day football tournament, a tea party and dressing up as Disney characters.

Nationally, Tesco customers and staff have so far raised over £5.7 million for the charity campaign since the start of last year. The proceeds will go towards funding research, Dementia Community Roadshows and Dementia Support.
