WORK to the planned Tesco on Plymouth Road Industrial Estate, Tavistock, is still ongoing, despite the recent news the brand has had to close stores due to record losses.

Landscaping works have so far been carried out and the company plans to open the store 'later this year'.

A spokesperson for Tesco said: 'We are delighted to be on course to opening a new store in Tavistock later this year. We are not yet in a position to confirm the exact date, but will be sure to update the community as soon as we have more information.

'We are really looking forward to becoming an important part of the local community, as well as bringing customers the very best we have to offer.'

The development is still subject to West Devon Borough Council's approval of minor works applications, such as the erection of signage and installation of plant machinery.
