STUDENTS from Callington Community College spent a day at Tesco to raise more than £600 to get to the ends of the earth — and beyond.
Fourteen students packed bags at the Callington store to raise funds for an expedition to Borneo and a separate trip to NASA.
Borneo expedition link teacher Chris Morrell said: 'The expedition is for three weeks in August and the bulk of the work we'll be doing out there is at the sun bear sanctuary — they're trying to release them back into the wild.
'It will be quite hard work but it's important — we could be helping to build enclosures and walkways, that sort of thing.
'The responsibility is on the students to raise the money and part of that money goes directly into conservation work.
'The staff at Tesco have been really helpful, really interested in what we're doing and the whole thing is a totally positive experience.'
Issy Jackson, 15, made a demonstration clippings board for the trip, explaining what the young people were doing in Borneo.
Callington Space Centre director Mike Grocott, who is in charge of the 'Send A Student To NASA' initiative, expressed thanks to Tesco for the opportunity to bag-pack, which raised £220 for the trip.
