PEOPLE in East Cornwall can strike a green note by recycling their Christmas trees.
Caradon District Council will be collecting Christmas trees free of charge over the next two weeks from the district's towns and main villages.
The trees will then be composted and transformed into soil conditioner for farmland by WH Bond and Sons.
Collections will take place at Callington, Kelly Bray and Golberdon today (Thursday) and on January 29, at Rilla Mill and Upton Cross on January 20, at Albaston, Calstock, Gunnislake, Harrowbarrow, Metherell and St Ann's Chapel on January 22 and St Dominick and St Mellion on January 23.
Cllr Colin Riches, Caradon's ambassador for green issues and climate change, said: 'We should all be making a New Year's resolution to be greener. There are lots of little things we can do, such as recycling, that add up to a big difference for our environment.'
Caradon will also be collecting garden waste in pre-paid sacks on these dates, and garden waste collections will continue fortnightly throughout the year. Garden waste timetables are available in local shops and on http://www.caradon.gov.uk">www.caradon.gov.uk
