THE hands may be pointing in the right direction now — but Tavistock's town clock is still suffering with age.
Members of the town council's properties committee last week heard that the clock is now working correctly, but the carillon, which plays tunes, remains faulty.
Town clerk Roger Howard told members that the company contracted to look after the clock had promised to make yet another visit to the town in the very near future.
'Whether they can actually repair the carillon, I don't know — if you look at it, it's very ancient,' said Col Howard, who said the work the company had done was under 12 months guarantee.
'They can't come for another two weeks because they are looking after an Australian tour party who are looking at church clocks all across England,' Col Howard told members.
