EVERY year Steve Vanstone organises a charity bike ride in memory of his mother, Theresa, starting and ending in Tavistock.

The 170-mile sponsored bicycle ride around Devon and Cornwall, this year from May 2 to 4, entails three days of blood, sweat and tears, with money raised going to the Myasthenia Gravis Association.

Accompanying Steve on the sponsored ride will be 12 other local cyclists: Mike Lyddon, Steve Langsford, Lee Greatrex, Chris Greatrex, Duncan Law, Dan Edwards, Rachel Storey, Neil Evans and Stuart Corbett.

They will leave Tavistock's Bedford Square at 8am on May 2 and would appreciate support.

They will then cycle to Bodmin, Padstow, Newquay and Perranporth.

Day two will be from Perranporth to Porthleven, finishing in Mevagissey. Day 3 will be from there back to Tavistock.

Activities taken for granted by most of us become difficult or even impossible at times for Myasthenics — simple things like eating food, lifting arms, speaking to friends or laughing. There is a loss of effectiveness in muscles.

The riders hope to raise more than £2000.
