OKEHAMPTON Town Council is looking to get eight footpaths designated in the town and needs the public's help.
Anyone using shortcuts and footpaths is being asked to drop into the town council offices and fill in a form by August 7.
The eight footpaths proposed are on a local map and have been used for years but they are not designated as footpaths on the definitive map.
Efforts are being made by the council to ensure the footpaths are retained should any land around them come up for sale.
To get the routes designated at least six people need to say they use them regularly.
A map has been put up in the council offices with all the eight footpaths numbered making it easy for people to fill in a form. One of the footpaths the council is looking to designate is the steps coming down by the Mill Wheel.
'We may not be able to keep them if they are not used enough,' said Cllr Gill Lower. 'The more people we get filling in a form the better.'
