A FLAVOUR of life in Medieval times will be on offer at Buckland Abbey later this month. The Medieval Free Company will set up camp to demonstrate what 15th Century life was really like. Showing the lighter side, there will be wool spinning and weaving as well as the harsh realities of midwifery, and the treatment of battle wounds. The men will be protecting the camp and getting on with everyday jobs, including, Hod the Agincourt Archer, who also tells stories, and Morvar the unlicensed Miller who risks being put in the stocks or banished for his illegal work. If Medieval hunting goes to plan, there could also be a side of meat spit-roasting across a log fire. The event takes place from Saturday, August 27 to Monday 29, from 11am to 4.30pm.
