TAVISTOCK'S 24th Steam and Vintage Fair will be held on Saturday, June 1, organised by the Robey Trust Ltd. Open from 10am to 5pm at the Bedford and Wharf Car Parks off Plymouth Road, attractions will include full size steam engines, steam car, Robey Steam Wagon, miniature steam engines, tractors, vintage and classic cars, trade stands and entertainment. Trailer rides are an ever-popular attraction at the fair, and this year is no different with full size steam engines and steam car trailer rides around the centre of Tavistock. The Robey Trust, Tavistock's industrial heritage charity, has teamed up with Tavy Ales to produce its own real ale, which will be launched at this year's fair. Negotiations between the two groups began several months ago with the result that the brewery has agreed to produce its porter ale as a Robey Steam Ale. Labels for the bottles have been designed by volunteers from The Robey Trust, and feature an image of the steam roller which started the collection of steam engines 31 years ago.
