I'VE just walked through the car park behind the

Co-op/Somerfield in Tavistock and again was struck by the appalling state it is in.

It is scruffy, tired and dirty beyond description and often badly littered, usually with food packaging (although to be fair this does seem to be removed reasonably quickly). The steps from the car park first floor to Old Exeter Road are also usually in a terrible condition.

This car park is often used by visitors — from the UK and abroad.  I wonder what impression it gives of a town which sets such great store on its status as an historic market town, on the edge of a national park and at the gateway to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty?

I don't know who is responsible for the state of this car park, but whoever it is should go and check it out and make arrangements for cleaning it before the tourist season starts in earnest.
