Further to recent correspondence in your letters pages, Westden wishes to add full support to the Wharf in its bid for 5 Canal Road.
Our mission statement is 'Westden works with communities to find practical solutions to the inter-linked environmental, social and economic challenges in rural areas' and we therefore consider it important to stand up and be counted when it comes to 'community issues'.
It is obvious that it would make a significant difference for the community if the Wharf had the use of 5 Canal Road and that is why we assisted the Wharf in drawing up a proposal for a 23-year lease (15 years longer than what is on the table at present) and at a commercially viable rent.
If the council want to increase the income into the town why don't they negotiate a lease with the Wharf and find alternative premises for the other tenants, possibly at Kilworthy Park?
