A RECENT performance from Kelly College's music scholars received a standing ovation from crowds in North Devon.

The pupils were playing at the church at Milton Damerel and were delighted to find it packed with an eager audience.

The musicians, aged between eleven and 18, performed a varied programme of solos, duets and bigger ensembles, in aid of the church restoration fund.

Beth Barnes played one of her own compositions, the 'Valse' for flute and piano as well as a piece by Mozart.

The 'Laudamus Te' from Vivaldi's Gloria, a vocal duet sung by Sophie and Chantal Whitfield. The audience especially enjoyed the pieces by Elgar, Tchaikovsky and Strauss played by all the scholars together, accompanied by director of music Andrew Wilson and Nick Geere.
