HIGH standards were seen at this year's Walkhampton Cottage Garden Society Annual Show, with the highest number of entries since 1999.
The gardeners showed yet again that they overcame all that nature threw at them during the past year, with the usual high standards and one or two outstanding exhibits.
Show secretary Peter Shapcott said: 'The flowers were as ever a joy to see despite some heavy rain a day or two before the show. Entry numbers were up on last year and top vase went to S Glanville along with several other firsts. W Swinburne won best kept and cropped garden with a fine display.'
Mr Shapcott said Cookery was also of a very high standard and entry numbers were the highest since 1987.
Overall the number of entries was 632, which is the second highest in the last 25 years.
'All that remains is to thank all the committee and helpers who work so hard to put the show on and the support of the entrants who fill the hall with the results of their hard work,' Mr Shapcott added, 'A show of this type with so much community support is a rare event so please start planning, growing and making for next year.'
The society plans to hold a number of help and advice tables at the Walkhampton Market in the spring, which will be advertised at the start of next year.
