Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band's spring concert was the occasion for a special presentation.

Town mayor David Weekes made the presentation to David Allin of an engraved tankard for his loyal service to the band.

Mr Allin joined  at the age of 14 and has completed 50 years as a euphonium player. He and His wife, Margaret, who live at South Zeal, were also given two tickets to see a performance by The famous Grimethorpe Colliery Band.

Margaret was presented with a bouquet in gratitude for her support of the band.

The concert raised £500 for the cancer charity CLIC Sargent.
