FEES charged to Goose Fair stallholders in the Alexander Centre look set to be reduced next year after complaints were received at the high cost levied to traders at this year's event.
Town council works superintendent Les Bennett told members at last week's properties committee meeting that the only complaints he had received this year were about the cost of renting a pitch in the centre car park.
'I found it very difficult to rent out, basically because of the amount of money we were charging per foot.
'We only half-filled it and I think if we went down the road of reducing it, we could fill it — it isn't a prime site,' he said.
Mr Bennett said apart from this one site, everything else had gone 'very well' with this year's Goose Fair.
The town council acts as agents for Devon County Council in renting out the Alexander Centre and takes 20 per cent of the takings.
Members agreed to reduce the charge on the site next year to £6 per foot, to encourage small local traders and a broader selection of stalls.
