MORE than 160 people took part in the Dartmoor Ten Pub Charity Walk earlier this summer, and the event, now in its fifth year, raised more than £5,000 for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust. The grand total of £5,414,10 was last Thursday handed over to Devon Air Ambulance at the Plume of Feathers in Okehampton. The money was raised when the walkers set off on the 16-mile challenge from Sandy Park on July 2. The event was organised by the grand master of the Okement Hash House Harriers with the aim of raising in excess of the £3,016 raised last year. Such an event is not possible without the sponsorship and support of many people, not least of all those who took on the challenge and completed the walk. The group also expressed thanks to Carmel Coaches for getting everyone to the start, Mr and Mrs Jewell for use of their facilities at the midway point, the Plume of Feathers and the Plymouth Inn for donating liquid refreshments and all the landlords for their wonderful hospitality on the route.
