EYE patches and barber?s chairs will be glimpsed at the Plough Youth Theatre this weekend as workshop audtions for two new shows begin. Although based in Torrington, the Youth Theatre, which is now in its fourth year, is keen to attract more youngsters from Okehampton and the surrounding area who enjoy acting. For those aged between eight and 12, there is the chance of fun on the high seas as part of the cast of Treasure Island ? a musical adventure by Stephen Kingbury. Rehearsals take place at the Plough every Saturday beginning on September 9, from 10.30am -12.30pm. For aspiring actors aged between 13 and 18, there is the real dramatic challenge of joining the company of Sweeney Todd, the musical thriller by Stephen Sondheim telling the tale of the ?demon barber of Fleet Street?. Rehearsals for this show also start this Saturday and take place at the Plough from 1.30pm- 4.30pm. Both shows will be performed next spring.
